The primary objective of these guidelines is to establish and define the automated filtering protocols for the Virtual Intelligence Enabled Real Avatar (ViERA). By leveraging advanced multi-modal processing, ViERA ensures the maintenance of a safe, compliant, and high-integrity digital environment within the AP MEDIA ecosystem and the InViGiL application. These protocols are designed to preemptively mitigate risks associated with harmful content before it reaches human moderators or the public feed.

2. Definition of Hate Speech

ViERA defines Hate Speech as any form of expression that constitutes a direct attack, dehumanization, or incitement of violence against individuals or groups based on protected characteristics. These characteristics include, but are not limited to:

  • Identity Markers: Race, ethnicity, national origin, and religious affiliation.
  • Personal Attributes: Sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, and disability or serious disease.
  • Social Status: Caste or immigration status.

An "attack" is categorized as violent or dehumanizing speech, statements of inferiority, or calls for exclusion or segregation.

3. Definition of Graphic Content

Graphic Content refers to visual or descriptive material that depicts realistic violence or suffering in a manner that is excessively gory, cruel, or traumatic. ViERA filters for the following:

  • Severe Physical Injury: Detailed depictions of dismemberment, open wounds, or the moment of impact in fatal accidents.
  • Explicit Sexual Violence: Any non-consensual sexual acts or imagery involving sexualized trauma.
  • Gratuitous Gore: Content that focuses on blood, entrails, or bodily fluids without educational or news-reporting justification.

4. ViERA AI Filtering Workflow

The InViGiL application utilizes a rigorous pipeline to process incoming data. The workflow follows these sequential stages:

  • Media Ingestion: Raw data (text, high-resolution video, spatial audio, and images) is uploaded to the AP MEDIA secure gateway.
  • Cryptographic Verification (C2PA): ViERA checks the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) metadata. This verifies the origin of the media and ensures it has not been tampered with since its creation.
  • Multi-Modal Processing: ViERA analyzes the content across all formats simultaneously. For example, it cross-references the transcript of a video with the visual actions occurring on-screen to detect hidden or nuanced violations.

5. Content Categorization

ViERA assigns all ingested media into one of three action-oriented categories based on confidence scores and severity.

CategoryDefinitionAction Protocol
Auto-RejectSevere violations with high confidence scores (>95%).Immediately blocked; user notification issued; not accessible by public.
Flag for ReviewBorderline or high-risk content; ambiguous context.Routed to internal human moderation queue with AI-generated reasoning notes.
Auto-ApproveLow-risk content passing all safety and authenticity checks.Published to social feeds or routed to the news verification queue.

6. Contextual Analysis (Gemini-Level Reasoning)

Unlike traditional keyword filters, ViERA employs sophisticated conversational reasoning to distinguish between intent and substance. This allows the system to differentiate between:

  • News Reporting vs. Promotion: A video showing conflict for the purpose of journalistic documentation is treated differently than content that glorifies the same violence.
  • Satire vs. Malice: ViERA analyzes linguistic cues, tone, and historical user behavior to identify satirical commentary that may use "flagged" terms in a non-harmful, transformative context.
  • Educational Intent: Graphic medical imagery used for training or awareness is prioritized for approval, provided it meets provenance standards.

7. Handling Adversarial Evasion

ViERA is programmed to detect and neutralize attempts by malicious actors to bypass automated safety layers:

  • Disguised Text: Detection of "leetspeak" (e.g., substituting '3' for 'e'), zero-width characters, and phonetic intentional misspellings.
  • Masked Images: Identification of visual content hidden behind noise filters, extreme cropping, or digital overlays meant to confuse computer vision models.
  • Audio Manipulation: Neutralization of frequency shifts or background noise designed to mask prohibited speech patterns in audio files.

8. Continuous Learning

The ViERA architecture is built for rapid evolution. Utilizing a distributed training infrastructure powered by Ray and Kubernetes , the system scales compute resources to process vast datasets in real-time.

ViERA utilizes the Megatron-LM architecture for its core language processing, allowing for massive-scale parameter tuning. The model is continuously refined through a feedback loop: every human moderation decision (confirming or overturning an AI flag) is ingested as new training data. This ensures ViERA evolves to meet emerging threats and cultural shifts in communication.
